2025 Toyota Landcruiser Prado 250 Series: price, specs, model range and release date
The 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado range is now on sale in Australia. From pricing to specs and features across the model range, here's what you need to know about the new LandCruiser Prado.
The new generation of one of Australia's favourite towing and family cars, the Toyota LandCruiser Prado, has now arrived in local showrooms featuring a boxy design, significant engineering changes resulting in new off-road capabilities, and significant price increases to match.
The Toyota LandCruiser Prado 250 Series includes five four-wheel drive variants, with prices ranging from $72,500 for the entry level five-seater GX model to $99,990 for the top-of-the-range Toyota Prado Kakadu.
Every Toyota LandCruiser Prado 250 Series is powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 48-Volt V-Active mild hybrid technology as used in the Toyota HiLux. Toyota's 150kW/500Nm engine is mated to a brand new eight-speed automatic transmission, and all Prado models now feature electric power steering which the brand says has a light tune for low-speed manoeuvres and greater feedback at speed.
All Toyota LandCruiser Prado models are built on a strong ladder-frame chassis and include a centre locking differential to support off-road driving, but a locking rear differential is only available in higher-spec models.
Crucially for those looking to tow, all new Toyota LandCruiser Prado models have a braked towing capacity of 3500kg.

Exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, auto-folding and heated exterior mirrors, and a lift-up tailgate with a rear window hatch. Inside, the GX has black fabric seat upholstery made from recycled PET bottles, manual driver and front passenger seat adjustment, and a 60/40-split tumble rear seat.
Technology features include a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 10-speaker audio system.
The GX also comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking, active cruise control, lane trace assist, and road sign assist.
From the GX upwards, all new Prado models feature Toyota Connected Services, accessible through the myToyota Connect smartphone app. Key features include SOS emergency call, automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle tracking, remote vehicle status and health monitoring, and remote door lock/unlock functionality.
What is the specification of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado GXL?
The Toyota LandCruiser Prado GXL, priced from $79,990 plus on-road costs, builds upon the features of the GX model. The most affordable seven-seater in the Prado model range includes a 50/50-split third-row bench seat. Additional exterior features include roof rails, a power tailgate with a rear window hatch, and rear-side and back privacy glass.
Interior upgrades include synthetic leather seat upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, heated and ventilated front seats, a leather-accented steering wheel and shift knob, door-trim illumination, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
For convenience, the GXL also adds a wireless smartphone charger and two additional USB-C accessory charging ports.
What is the specification of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado VX?
At $87,400, the seven-seat Toyota LandCruiser Prado VX is a significant step up from the GXL but it offers a more luxurious, comfortable, and technologically advanced driving experience as well as adding additional off-road capabilities.
The LandCruiser Prado VX offers a 5-mode Drive Mode Select, Multi-terrain Select with Multi-Terrain Monitor and Adaptive Variable Suspension for a smoother ride and more control in tricky terrain. As well as sharing these features with the off-road focused Altitude and Kakadu variants, all three grades also offer downhill assist control and crawl control to maintain steady speed while on steep descents and inclines.
While it offers offroad credentials, the VX is at home in the city, featuring large 20-inch premium dark metallic alloy wheels, a LUX grade front grille, Bi-LED headlights with dynamic auto-leveling, and body-coloured bumpers and fender mouldings.
The interior features a power-adjustable steering wheel, leather-accented seats, a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a driver's seat with power lumbar support and memory function, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a refrigerated rear console box and carpeted floor mats.
Additional safety features include an adaptive high-beam system and a tyre pressure warning system. The VX also boasts a 14-speaker premium JBL audio system for superior sound quality.
What is the specification of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado Altitude?
Priced at $92,700 plus on-road costs, the Toyota LandCruiser Prado Altitude is the most capable off-roader in the new Prado line-up. It has a unique front stabilizer disconnect mechanism which allows for greater wheel articulation in challenging terrain, an electronically locking rear differential, and 18-inch alloy wheels with bespoke off-road Toyo tyres.
It's a five-seater to maximise load carrying space and is offered with a moonroof and the option of a two-tone paint option to distinguish it on road.
The Altitude builds on the VX specs and features, and adds a head-up display, digital rear view mirror, interior tailgate light and heated steering wheel, while the tyre pressure monitoring system is deleted. It also does away with the adaptive suspension used in the VX and Kakadu and includes a three-mode drive select function.
What is the specification of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado Kakadu?
The Toyota LandCruiser Prado Kakadu builds on the specification of the VX but adds several additional luxury and convenience features to position it as the flagship of the 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado line-up, pricing it at $99,990 plus on-road costs.
On the exterior it adds a panoramic moonroof and illuminated side steps, while the interior adds additional comfort for passengers with heated and ventilated rear seats. The driver is also afforded more comfort in the LandCruiser Prado Kakadu, with a manually-adjustable driver seat cushion to lengthen the seat base if required, and a heated steering wheel.
Like the Altitude, the Kakadu is equipped with a head-up display but it replaces the electronically locking rear differential with a rear Torsen limited-slip differential.

Toyota is expecting strong ongoing demand for its new 2025 LandCruiser Prado in Australia
When does the 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado go on sale in Australia?
The new Toyota LandCruiser Prado is now on sale from authorised Toyota dealerships in Victoria and across Australia. So far, Toyota has amassed over 17,000 pre-orders for the LandCruiser Prado.
Strong ongoing demand may see some delivery delays for buyers due to Toyota Australia's new order allocation process. Toyota is tightly managing dealers' orders so customers have clearer information on when their car will arrive. Don't be surprised if your Toyota dealer isn't available to place an order immediately for a new 2025 LandCruiser Prado.
Toyota has forecast most buyers will opt for its mid-spec GXL 7 seater model which could represent around 50 per cent of all Prado models bought in Australia.
Buyers who can't wait for their place in the Prado queue do have some tough offroad family SUVs to consider as an alternative, including the Nissan Patrol, Ford Everest Wildtrak, Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
