Give the kids a break from screen time with this easy Rocky Road recipe that will have everyone at home licking their lips.

It can be difficult to pry kids away from their screens, whether it be their phones, iPads, laptops or gaming consoles. And it’s especially difficult when screen time has been their link to friends in the last few months.

But don’t despair, because we’ve found the perfect tonic, and it’s one the whole family can enjoy.

To mix things up, we've created an easy and fun recipe for Le Petit Gateau Rocky Road that both big and little kids will love getting involved in.

This recipe also lends itself to whatever toppings the kids desire (or what’s in the pantry), so there’s no need to restrict yourself to the exact recipe. Feel free to get creative and have some fun!

Follow the below instructions for a creative holiday activity, as well as a great festive gift now it’s coming into the Christmas season.

Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients

  • Milk chocolate 500g
  • Cocoa butter 50g
  • Marshmallows 200g
  • Desiccated coconut 30g
  • 100’s and 1000’s 20g

Method

  1. Prepare your baking tin. Lightly grease a 17x17cm baking tin and line with cling film.
  2. Using a double boiler, melt the cocoa butter. Once melted, add in the chocolate and stir until totally melted and combined.
  3. Remove from heat and add in marshmallows and desiccated coconut. Stir until combined.
  4. Using a spatula, scrape the mixture into the tin and spread evenly. Top with 100s and 1000s, and place in the fridge to set for two hours.
  5. Once set, but into little squares and enjoy!
