RACV Solar delivers a multi-site regional EV Fast charger network for South Gippsland Shire Council

A unique EV charger rollout project between four local Gippsland councils. The councils were able to secure government funding to enable the installations of the charging infrastructure. For one of the councils, South Gippsland Shire Council, this meant they could remove a substantial fast charger black spot in the region without significant impact on existing budgets and spending.

The South Gippsland Shire Council covers a substantial area with a diverse landscape and topography. The same drawcards for locals and tourists alike made for a complex project rollout including exposed coastal conditions and electrical connections across bridges. A mixture of new electrical connections to the grid as well as utilising existing Council infrastructure called for a bespoke solution at each of the 6 locations.

The 6 fast-charging EV stations afford users the ability to return to the road swiftly, whilst the hardware's dual port functionality means multiple drivers can charge concurrently.

The installation of the chargers helps close a number of blackspots across Gippsland, servicing the charging needs of both locals and tourists travelling through the scenic surrounds of the region.

"The EV charger rollout in South Gippsland has provided greater flexibility for residents and unlocked new travel routes and pit stops for visitors."

Savings are projected numbers. *The statistics for RACV Solar customers have been calculated based on the following assumptions: the site's prior electricity consumption and tariffs, 3D modelling software for commercial and complicated residential sites (identifying shade/structures that impact performance), local sunlight irradiance and climate data, Victorian grid electricity emissions intensity factor of 1.12 kg CO2 eq / kWh, and average home system size in Victoria.
