And when it comes to the perfect summer cocktail, it doesn’t get much better than the Southside Fizz, which features a tasty mix of blood orange gin by acclaimed Victorian distillery Nosferatu, lemon juice, simple syrup and soda water.
This colourful cocktail reportedly originated from the South Side district of Chicago and was said to be the preferred drink of notorious gangster Al Capone, who attained infamy in the city during Prohibition.

Southside Fizz cocktail recipe
Ingredients:
- 45ml Nosferatu Blood Orange Gin
- 30ml Lemon juice
- 15ml Simple Syrup
- 30ml Pasteurised egg white or Aquafaba for a Vegan alternative
- Soda Water
Method:
- Add Blood orange gin into cocktail shaker with lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white
- Dry shake for 6 seconds (Dry shaking is when you shake a cocktail with no ice to help the egg white expand)
- Add ice to shaker (Wet shaking) and shake for 8-10 seconds
- Double strain into a tall glass over ice and top with soda (approx. 45 ml)
- Garnish with Blood orange or mint
