The best cheap eats in Melbourne’s northern suburbs
MasterChef alumna, Elise Pulbrook, takes us on a culinary tour of Melbourne’s north and discovers the area’s best cheap eats under $15.
There’s no shortage of good food in Melbourne but you don’t have to spend big to get a five-star meal. The easiest and most efficient way to travel to Melbourne's best cheap eats is to use the arevo journey planner app.
Former MasterChef contestant, Elise Pulbrook, shows us that that you can find huge falafel pitas, hearty plates of chow mein, roast pork bahn mi and old school choc dip ice creams all for less than $15 (and in some cases, less than $10) in Melbourne’s north alone.
But it’s a Pakistani food truck located in Craigieburn that really stands as one of true hidden culinary gems of Melbourne’s north.
Karachi Street Food is an authentic Pakistani-Indian restaurant run by brothers Muhammad Atif Khan and Muhammad Arif. After launching their business with just two dishes (chicken biryani and kachori tarkari) the business now attracts customers as far afield as Geelong, Shepparton and Bendigo.
Using family recipes, the brothers say the spiciness of their biryani is a drawcard, as well as the affordable price point.
“Our pricing is very affordable,” says Muhammad Atif Khan. “I want people to have good food at an affordable price."
