Here, we share suggestions and resources to help you prepare for severe weather events that occur in Victoria, including bushfires, storms and floods.

While fires can occur at any time of year, bushfire season in Victoria typically peaks during the summer months in December, January and February. The severity and predictability of bushfires can change depending on a number of conditions, including humidity, cool changes, temperature and more; so it is important to be aware of your environment and the associated risks so you can make the right fire plan for your circumstances.
Being prepared for severe weather events also includes making sure your home insurance and motor insurance is current and sufficient in the event you need to make a claim.
You don’t have to live in regional Victoria to be at risk of bushfires. Getting your home and garden ready for bushfire season is essential to being prepared.
