Safe driver training for your business
Our safe driver training is designed for businesses with car fleets and helps you make sure your staff are safe on the roads. Choose from 5 session types, catering for both groups and individuals:
- RACV safe driver training online program
- Safety awareness workshop (group)
- In-car driver assessment (individual)
- Light commercial training
- Safe driver workshop (individual or group)
RACV online safe driver training
Whether new on the road or experienced, the ‘Safety Mindset’ approach helps drivers prepare, plan ahead and most importantly, have good awareness to help avoid incidents.
We guide drivers to review their own behaviours, recognise areas where they can improve their safety and take simple steps to be safer on the road.
Delivery method: online. Participants complete training at their own pace on their computer or phone.
- Identify issues in their own unique situations.
- Apply a safety mindset before and while driving, to reduce risk of an incident.
- Know how to keep up to date with road rule changes.

- $40 per participant.
- 1-hour course.
Safety awareness workshop
This workshop improves drivers’ knowledge of current road rules and awareness of safer driving practices, incorporating safe driving behaviour in everyday situations.
Key topics:
- Business vehicle overview
- Road rules quiz and knowledge update
- Effects of speed, fatigue, alcohol and hand-held devices
- OH&S responsibility requirements
- Organisation or industry-specific topics as requested.
Optional topic: Vehicle set up – the group physically reviews vehicle demonstration and discusses together for 1 hour.
- In-person, up to 20 participants.
- Interactive classroom presentation.
- Participants receive a take-home pack and a certificate of attendance.
- Cost: $1,480 - $1600
- Duration: 2-3 hours
- Maximum 20 participants.
In-car driver assessment (individual)
The 1-hour course aims to assess and report on a driver's practical skills and behaviour, reactions to hazards, other motorists and economical use of a motor vehicle.
Participant drives a company vehicle in normal driving conditions while RACV trainer reviews their driving performance and provides feedback.
Optional 2-hour format: This extended option includes a training element tailored to the results from the assessment.
- In-person, individual.
- Participants must hold a current Victorian licence.
- Full performance report provided to company on the driver and their use of a motor vehicle.
- 1-hour course: $280 (or $230 without report)
- 2-hour course: $485 (or $435 without report)
Light commercial vehicle training
This course provides in-vehicle training specific to the vehicle type, focusing on OH&S responsibility, safe driving behaviours and passenger safety.
- The participant travels in a company vehicle in normal driving conditions during the 2-hour session.
- The RACV trainer reviews their driving performance and provides feedback.
- Participants must hold a current Victorian licence.
- Full performance report provided to company on the driver and their use of a motor vehicle.
- This training is suitable for SUVs, small buses or utility vehicles.

Safe driver workshop
This course, for licensed drivers, focuses on building effective techniques and sensible attitudes for driving more safely in everyday situations.

- Driver to vehicle approach
- Participants travel in a company vehicle in normal driving conditions and take turns driving during the 2-hour session
- Driver trainer reviews driving performance of all, provides feedback and a full performance report is provided to the company regarding the driver and their use of a motor vehicle
