Safe driver training

Whether new on the road or experienced, the ‘Safety Mindset’ approach helps drivers prepare, plan ahead and most importantly, have good awareness to help avoid incidents.

Through this one-hour program, we guide drivers to review their own behaviours, recognise areas where they can improve their safety and take simple steps to be safer on the road.

Safe driving is about much more than knowing road rules, it’s about adopting a ‘Safety Mindset’.

Your employees can complete the training at their own pace on their computer or phone, and will be better able to

• Identify issues in their own unique situations
• Apply a safety mindset before and while driving, to reduce risk of an incident.
• Know how to keep up to date with road rule changes.
• Champion safe driving within your business.

Duration: 1 hour

This interactive classroom presentation is designed to improve drivers’ knowledge of current road rules and raise awareness of safer driving practices incorporating safe driving behaviour in everyday situations. Participants will receive a take-home pack and a certificate of attendance.

Maximum: 20 participants

The participant drives a company vehicle in normal driving conditions. The RACV driver trainer reviews their driving performance and then provides feedback. A full performance report is provided to the company regarding the driver and their use of a motor vehicle.

The one-hour course aims to assess and report on a driver's practical skills and behaviour, reactions to hazards, other motorists and economical use of a motor vehicle.

Duration: 60 minutes
Note: In-car assessment without report is $230

A two-hour version of the course comprises of all these key features but is extended to include a training element tailored to the results from the assessment. A full performance report is provided to the company regarding the driver and their use of a motor vehicle.

This course provides in-vehicle training specific to the vehicle type, focusing on OH&S responsibility, safe driving behaviours and passenger safety. The driver trainer provides feedback and a full performance report to the company for each driver. Participants must hold a current Victorian licence.

• Driver to vehicle approach
• Focusing on OH&S responsibility
• Safe driving behaviour and passenger safety

The participant (one only) travels in a company vehicle in normal driving conditions during the 2-hour session. The driver trainer reviews their driving performance, provides feedback and a report to the company on the driver and their economical use of a motor vehicle. Suitable for vehicles such as a small bus, utility, or SUV.

To improve driver knowledge and awareness of safer driving practices. To assess a driver's practical skills through a theory and practical program, interactive presentation and in-car assessment. A full performance report is provided to the company regarding the driver and their use of a motor vehicle.

The Safe Driver Workshop is a course for licensed drivers, which focuses on building effective techniques and sensible attitudes for driving more safely in everyday situations.

The program aims to instil positive driving behaviours and a responsible philosophy towards ourselves and other road users.

Theory content includes:

• Business vehicle overview
• Road rules quiz and knowledge update
• Effects of speed, fatigue, alcohol and hand-held devices
• OH&S responsibility requirements and chain of responsibility
• Organisation or industry specific topics as requested

Practical content includes:

• Driver to vehicle approach
• Participants travel in a company vehicle in normal driving conditions and take turns driving during the 2-hour session
• Driver trainer reviews driving performance of all, provides feedback and a full performance report is provided to the company regarding the driver and their use of a motor vehicle

Theory: Maximum 18 participants 
Practical: One participant to one driver trainer per assessment (2 hours per session)
