RACV Royal Pines Gold Coast athletes village
RACV is delighted that RACV Royal Pines Resort is being actively considered for the Athletes Village on the Gold Coast. Royal Pines has always been a major accommodation provider to various local and international sporting teams, including recently hosting the Matildas, the Brazilian Women’s Football Team, numerous AFL Teams and the Aston Villa Football Team, to name but a few. Additionally, Royal Pines was the site of the Australian PGA Golf Tournament for 7 years and Ladies Masters from 1992 -2017. Royal Pines’s close proximity to the Gold Coast Sports Precinct has been a contributing factor to its success in attracting major sporting teams and events.
RACV Royal Pines has significant land holdings and like all RACV Resort sites we continually update our site masterplans. At Royal Pines, RACV aims to create a world-class sports, wellness, and community precinct, enhancing the Resort leading into Brisbane 2032. To prepare for this vision, RACV has worked collaboratively with the Queensland Government and City of Gold Coast Council on the role Royal Pines could play in Brisbane 2032.
RACV Managing Director and Chief Executive Neil Taylor said "RACV looks forward to working with the Queensland Government, City of Gold Coast Council and key partners to deliver the important infrastructure for the Gold Coast Athletes Village. Given our experience in developing and running large-scale high-quality assets such as RACV Torquay Resort and RACV Cape Schanck Resort, we are confident we will be able to develop the Athletes Village well ahead of 2032, as part of our broader development vision for RACV Royal Pines Resort."
Mr Taylor also said “It would be our intention that any Athletes Village development at RACV Royal Pines Resort contributes to permanent dwellings for South East Queensland’s growing population, after the Games, providing a legacy beyond Brisbane 2032.”
RACV has a 3-year sponsorship with the Australian Paralympics Team and we look forward to seeing how the future development at RACV Royal Pines Resort could become part of their Games." Taylor went on to say.
